LATEST: 10 MDC Alliance supporters arrested over violent protests

TEN alleged MDC Alliance supporters were on Thursday arrested by police after they had sought refugee from the Morgan Richard Tsvangirai House, the MDC-T main headquarters in Harare on Wednesday.

An equal number are still holed up inside the building in central Harare.

They are being accused of taking part in Wednesday’s riotous protests over the Monday electoral outcome which saw the MDC Alliance suffer serious poll defeat. Three were killed in the protests when the army was deployed to quell the violence.

According to MDC lawyers, police are armed with two warrants; one to search the MDC-T headquarters and the one for arresting the group.

Meanwhile, the Zimbabwe Electoral Commission (ZEC) has revised its earlier announcement Zanu PF won 144 seats overally while MDC Alliance won 64.

The correct position is that Zanu PF won 145 and MDC Alliance 63.

The other two were won by National Patriotic Front’s Masango Matambanadzo and Temba Mliswa (Norton), an independent.
