Lowly Buffaloes hold Chitembwe’s Caps United 0-0

NEW Caps United coach Lloyd Chitembwe got off to a disappointing start on his return after his charges fluffed numerous chances that came their way to draw 0-0 against a spirited Buffaloes at the National Sports Stadium on Sunday.
Even the fans had hoped for a good outing but they looked dejected at the final whistle after they were held to a 0-0 draw by lowly Buffaloes.
Caps United remained stuck on seventh position on the league table with 31 points- the same as How Mine but are below because of goal difference.
Chitembwe was however, happy with the way his charges applied themselves.
“I thought we played well. They applied themselves well and dominated.  Dominance is what we expected but of course there are a few things like finishing that we need to work on. It is a process,” Chitembwe said before disappearing into the dressing room.
The Green Machine carved out good chances in the first half but their attackers Dominic Chungwa and Leonard Tsipa missed good opportunities on 39 minutes with Chungwa directing his effort wide while Tsipa missed a headed opportunity.
Two minutes into the second half, captain Moses Muchenje and Tsipa also missed opportunities as Caps United pressed forward.
But Buffaloes also had some moments with former Caps United and Dynamos striker Clive Kawinga causing anxious moments.
He had the ball at the back of the nets five minutes from full time but the lines man flagged for offside and referee Josiah Masimira disallowed the goal.
Buffaloes’ assistant coach Joseph Takaringofa said they were happy to collect a point.
“We played well and are happy with a point. On a good day we could have even won the match. We are happy with the way the team is playing.
“We still have five games at home and three away. We know we will not be relegated and in fact have never thought about that. If anything we are actually looking at finishing among the top six,” said Takaringofa.
