MAMELODI Sundowns’ striker Cuthbert Malajila is set for a first start for his club since October when they host Chicken Inn of Zimbabwe in the second leg of their African Champions League tie at Atteridgeville on Saturday.
It comes as Colombian striker Leonard Castro struggles with a hamstring injury and has been put on the doubtful list for the African club competition tie where Sundowns seek to work back a 0-1 deficit.
Malajila started five league encounters and one Telkom Knockout game at the start of the season but was then injured and has been unable to get his place back from Castro, who has made a strong showing in his first season at the Pretoria-based club.
Castro was hurt in the draw against Lamontville Golden Arrows and been declared doubtful by coach Pitso Mosimane.
Malajila was hurt in the Telkom Knockout first round tie against Chippa United in Atteridgeville on October 4 going off at halftime with a knee injury.
He has only since played as a substitute, coming on four times in recent weeks, including the first leg against Chicken Inn in Bulawayo at the start of the month.
The 30-year-old Malajila was top scorer for the club last season.Advertisement
