A HARARE man was died during a fight over a bundle of vegetables, a local court heard this week.
Vendor Muchapararwa Tungwarara, 42, was Thursday hauled before Harare magistrate Edwin Marecha facing murder charges.
He was advised to apply for bail at the High Court pending trial.
The deceased was identified as Laxmidus Dhira Jial Danya.
According to the State, the fateful incident occurred on March 8 this year when the now-deceased went to Marimba shopping centre for some groceries.
It is alleged that while at the shops, Danya met the accused who was selling vegetables.
Prosecutors said Tungwarara confronted Danya accusing him of previously stealing his vegetables which were hidden behind municipal offices.
The allegation did not go down well with the now-deceased who charged towards Tungwarara.
Tungwarara then pushed Danya with both hands causing the latter to fall down on his back.
Court heard Danya hit his head against the tarmac and became unconscious.
This led to Tungwarara’s arrest at the crime scene while Danya was rushed to Marimba medical centre.
Court heard the medical centre referred Danya to Avenues Clinic where he died five days later.
A post mortem was established that the deceased succumbed blunt force head trauma.
