NEWLY appointed Harare City coach Taurai Mangwiro plans to overhaul his squad and beef it up with fresh legs ahead of the next season.
He however, could not say which players he would let go and those he would bring to the Sunshine City Boys.
“Harare City have very good players,” he said.
“They have quality but I am going to offload some of the players and beef up. But I can’t tell you which players I will be offloading or bring here.
“We hope to do well with this technical team which I have rolled out.”
However, reports suggested he could lure some of the players from his former team Caps United who spent the better of the season boycotting training over outstanding payments.
The players however, united to manage a third place finish at the end of the campaign.
Most are however, understood to be desperate to leave the Green Machine. Already Dominic Chungwa and Tendai Samanja have been linked with Dynamos and FC Platinum respectively.
Mangwiro quit Caps United last week in a move which also saw his lieutenants Mike Madzivanyika and goalkeepers’ coach Richard Tswatswa tendering their resignations the same day.
They were part of the technical crew unveiled by the Harare City executive on Wednesday.
Mangwiro was appointed head coach in a set up that also includes former Dynamos coaches David George and Elvis Chiweshe who were assigned to lead their junior development project.
Mkuphali Masuku, Mangwiro’s former assistant was also roped in while Masimba Dinyero, who was interim coach, was redeployed to the juniors where he will be responsible for talent scouting.
Witness Mnkuli was named goalkeepers coach while Richard Tswatswa was moved to juniors where he would be goalkeepers coach.Advertisement
