Mapeza cautious over Scottland FC’s CAF Champions League safari

Date:

SCOTTLAND FC head coach Norman Mapeza has warned that competing in the Confederations of African Football (CAF) Champions League will be far from easy, despite his side’s impressive domestic campaign.

Mapeza said this Friday after his side’s 2-0 win over relegation threatened TelOne at Rufaro Stadium in Harare.

Friday’s triumph saw Scottland FC stretching its lead on top of the Castle Lager Premier Soccer League (PSL) with 10 points, as they are now on 49, while second place occupiers Hardrock FC are still on 39 points.

Mapeza’s side has gone for 12 games without conceding a defeat in the league, the highest by any team this season.

Despite the good run, the veteran coach insisted that their local league form will not determine good results for them when they start to compete in the CAF Champions League next month.

“It’s a different ball game; Champions League is not going to be easy.

“The level competition is up there look at Moroccan teams; even Egyptian teams it’s class.

“But we are going there to compete, although l will not give these boys pressure,” said Mapeza

Scottland FC will be marking its debut appearance in the CAF Champions League, a ticket they earned after winning the 2025 league title.
