Mapeza delighted with winning start

NORMAN Mapeza got off to a promising start in his new job at FC Platinum after leading his side to a convincing 3-0 over Bantu Rovers in the Chibuku Super Cup first round.
After a goalless first half, Qadr Amini’s 47th minute penalty put the platinum miners ahead after Hebert Dick had handled inside the box.
New signing Ashley Mukwena scored his first goal in FC Platinum colours by doubling their lead before Zambian defender Aaron Katebe netted with his trademark header in injury time to seal victory for the platinum miners.
Mapeza has however refused to be carried away by the result.
“It is good to start with a win,” the former Warriors coach said.
“I hope this is the beginning of good things here. Yes we won but I feel there is a lot of work to be done. We do not have to read much into this result and relax.
“More hard work is needed because there are many games coming ahead.”
Mapeza received a standing ovation after the match from fans whom he in turn saluted together with his assistants Patrick Mandizha and Daniel Khumalo whom he found already at the club and opted to keep them for continuity sake.Advertisement
