Mapeza demands three points as PSL race hots up

UNDER pressure FC Platinum Coach Norman Mapeza says his ambitious side can no longer afford to drop points in their quest for their maiden league championship.
The Zvishavane based team has been the nearly men ever since they gained promotion to the top flight league, with the owners of the team investing heavily in quality players and coaches.
The next hurdle for them is a bogey side ZPC Kariba who incidentally broke FC Platinum yearlong unbeaten run when they handed them a defeat at Mandava Stadium.
Fast forward a year later, Sunday Chidzambwa visits Mandava this Saturday and has another opportunity to trash Mapeza`s enviable record at home.
Speaking ahead of the crunch encounter, Mapeza said they were gunning for maximum points.
“Our main objective as a club is to ensure we get maximum points on Saturday,” said an optimistic Mapeza.
The former warriors star is already casting his eye on the mouth-watering clash against fellow title-aspirants Ngezi Platinum but needs to pick up wins against the Kariba side and relegation threatened Tsholotsho Football Club.
“The most important thing is to win our games, Ngezi is going to come here (Zvishavane) but we do not want to talk about it now because we still have ZPC Kariba and Tsholotsho before the Ngezi game.
“We have to win our game on Saturday and also collect maximum points against Tsholotsho then we see what happens against Ngezi,” said Mapeza.
Ngezi Platinum has a relatively easy assignment against relegated Bantu Rovers at Luveve Stadium on Sunday while Dynamos who are also in the race for the championship host Chapungu at the National Sports Stadium on the same day.
