NEW FC Platinum coach Norman Mapeza got off to a flying start as his charges dismissed Nantucket Rovers 3-0 in the first round of the Chibuku Super Cup at Mandava on Saturday as Caps United also dismissed Chapungu by a similar score-line.
Mapeza took over from Lloyd Mutasa last week.
New signing Ashley Mukwena, Zambian international defender Aaron Katebe and Qadr Amin scored for Platinum.
At Rimuka, ZPC Karina tasted their first defeat of the season when they fell 1 0 to Harare City with Osborne Mukuradare scoring the winner.
At Rufaro in Harare, Caps United easily sailed past Chapungu with a 3 0 victory to reach the last eight of the Chibuku Super Cup.
Mid-season acquisition Nicholas Alifandika scored his first ever goal for Caps with a fourth minute opener before defender Ronald Phumbidzai doubled their lead nine minutes into the second half with a stunning goal.
Another mid-season arrival Honey Chimutimunzeve wrapped up a good outing with an injury time strike.
Chapungu offered little resistance and veteran forward Philip Marufu was a letdown upfront, Alifandika beat an ill-timed Chapungu offside trap for the opener.
But the afternoon was coloured By Pfumbidzai whose long range powerful drive gave Chapungu goalkeeper Roy Mazingi no chance.
In search of goals, Chapungu coach Marufu substituted Marufu for Courage Muzire and Rodwell Mhlanga came in for Hillary Mugoniwa but to no avail.
Kelvin Bulaji set up Chimutimunzeve to put Caps beyond the reach of Chapungu and complete the rout.
