Mapeza plays down unbeaten streak as FC Platinum face Dynamos

FC PLATINUM might have gone for a full year without tasting league defeat but their coach Norman Mapeza is not reading into that record as they visit Dynamos in Sunday’s match at Rufaro Stadium.
Interestingly, their last league loss was against Dynamos on May 9 2015 and ironically at Rufaro Stadium.
Since then, they have recorded 16 wins and 10 draws in a 26-game run that has seen them being talked about as serious title contenders.
Now they are back in the capital city for a confrontation with struggling Dynamos whose rough patch was this week underlined by the sacking of the Portuguese coach Paulo Jorge Silva.
Tilting the odds of Sunday’s game more in favour of FC Platinum is that Dynamos have not won at Rufaro this season and have scored just two goals while conceding five in as many matches so far this season.
But Mapeza is refusing to look at his opponents’ low start to the season.
“I have always said this and I am saying it again. We are not going to be fooled by Dynamos’ current form to this that this is going to be an easy match for us,” Mapeza said.
“No. We all know that have on so many occasions Dynamos have risen from such situations to go on and win the league title. You cannot rule out Dynamos from a match no matter the magnitude of the match. As for us yes we are unbeaten in many matches but anything can always happen in any match we play. It is not automatic that we will win against Dynamos so we are very careful.”
FC Platinum go into this match having won four matches and shared spoils just once this season.
Their 100 percent roll this term was last week halted at home by Harare City following a 0-0 draw at Mandava Stadium.
