FC Platinum 3-0 How Mine
LUKE Masomere was left to rue missed chances in the second half of his 3-0 thrashing by FC Platinum on Wednesday in a Castle Lager Premiership match at Mandava as How Mine succumbed to their heaviest defeat of the season.
Coming from a 6-0 demolition of Hwahwa, How Mine were expected to give Platinum a tough match but crumbled at Mandava.
But Platinum led 2-0 at halftime through goals from Wisdom Mutasa direct from a corner in the 28th minute when his delivery deceived keeper Donovan Bernard and Zambian import Obrey Chirwa minutes before the breather.
Three minutes from time, Wellington Kamudyariwa added the third to give Platinum their third win of the season and move them to ninth position with 10 points.
Still, How Mine remained two points ahead of Platinum and will seek to rectify their mistakes when they host Tsholotsho at Luveve.
Masomere said after the match: “We played well regardless of the fact that we lost 3-0 and by that I am not trying to take away the fact that FC Platinum played well.
“We lacked concentration in the first half but we came back stronger in the second half and we could have scored three goals had we been lucky.”
Platinum coach Norman Mapeza, in celebrating his third victory in eight tries, said his team is work in progress.
“Consistency is what we were searching for and hopefully results will keep on coming,” he said.
“We worked hard for this victory but we are still work in progress as we tend to give away possession easily at times and we have to rectify that lest we get punished.”
This weekend, Platinum get a big test when they travel to Harare to face defending champions Dynamos at Rufaro.
Dynamos have a date with Whahwa on Thursday as they sought to get back to winning ways after being whipped 3-0 by log leaders Chicken Inn on Sunday.
