Zimbabwe international Marshall Munetsi opened his 2026/27 campaign on a positive note, after scoring for Wolverhampton Wanderers in their 2-2 draw against Blackburn Rovers in the English Championship League match opener at Molineux on Friday night.
Munetsi gave Wolves the perfect start when he found the back of the net in the 18th minute to put the hosts ahead.
However, Blackburn responded through Sean McLoughlin, who levelled the contest before Andri Gudjohnsen put the visitors ahead shortly after the start of second half.
Wolves then managed to salvage a point , after veteran forward Raúl Jiménez scored a penalty, making it 2-2 in the 93rd minute.
Munetsi’s goal is a confidence booster for the team especially after their move to retain him from loan at Paris FC in the French League 1.
The Warriors vice captain is expected to play a key role for Wolves who have already made their intentions fighting for promotion back into the Premeir Soccer League clear.
Wolves will next face Preston North End as they continue their Championship campaign.
