HOW Mine coach Luke Masomere has rubbished the reports that his expensively assembled side should be doing better following the 1-1 draw with Flame Lily on Easter Sunday at Gwanzura Stadium.
The gold miners were one of the active teams on the transfer market during off-season, but Masomere insists they did not spend much on their new acquisitions.
New arrivals included veteran forwards Limited Chikafa, Benjamin Marere and Charles Sibanda.
The trio arrived to join a frontline which already had Kuda Musharu who finished last season as the PSL’s joint top goal-scorer with Sibanda while Chikafa was just behind in a season he was named the league’s third best player.
How Mine also roped in goalkeeper Munyaradzi Diya from Highlanders.
“I am not sure people know the meaning of the word expensive. Look, most of my new guys were out-of-contract players so we never bought them from any club.
“They were free agents and I just took them on board. People just like throwing non-existent figures around,” Masomere said.
The 1-1 draw at Flame Lily was How Mine’s second of the season after also sharing spoils with Chapungu in their opening match of the season.
However, they boast of a 2-1 win over Dongo Sawmills and are likely to be handed three points on a 3-0 score line from their game against Caps United which the latter did not attend.
