LUKE Masomere will quit as Shabanie Mine coach this week, with Mutare side Buffaloes likely to be his new destination.
Buffaloes are without a coach after Saul Chaminuka announced his resignation, before turning up at CAPS United where he has been named as assistant to Taurai Mangwiro.
Masomere met Buffaloes chairman Hlanganiso Matangaidze on Monday and is believed to have signed a contract on Tuesday.
Ironically, Masomewere’s last match in charge at Shabanie could be their 3-1 victory over the army side last Sunday.
Masomere joined Shabanie in 2011, and saved them from relegation on the last day of the season.
Last season, he finished in the top eight before he was banned after admitting his role in the Asiagate match fixing scandal. When the ban was commuted to a fine earlier this season, he reassumed charge.
On Wednesday, Shabanie were insisting that Masomere is still their man.
“On Tuesday, we had a meeting and we asked him to come and sign a new contract but he told us that he was in Masvingo. We still believe he is still our coach,” said Nephiel Rugara, the Shabanie chairman.
