VETERAN How Mine coach Luke Masomere is tipping Norman Mapeza’s FC Platinum to win the premiership this season at the expense of defending champions Dynamos and log leaders Chicken Inn.
The How Mine gaffer watched his charges being edged 1-0 by the champions at Rufaro on Sunday courtesy of a strike by Ronald Chitiyo.
Elsewhere, FC Platinum, beat Triangle 1-0 in the other match.
The result lifted Mapeza’s side to third position on the league table with 38 points five behind leaders Chicken Inn who overcame Highlanders 3-2 in another explosive tie at Barbourfields Stadium.
Dynamos are in second position with 39 points.
Masomere, however insists the Zvishavane side have what it takes to lay their hands on the championship at the end of the campaign.
“The competition is becoming stiff at the top of the table as the season draws to an end,” said Masomere.
“Dynamos are a very dangerous team at this stage of the season because they know how to grind out results.
“They have been in this situation before and have done well, but this time I think FC Platinum are better equipped. They will put a very strong challenge. On current form, they have a better chance of winning the title.”
Mapeza is not new to winning the championship, having lifted it in 2008 when he was still coach of Harare side Monomotapa.
