SOUTH Africa: Cape Town City have received major boost ahead of their Nedbank Cup game against Mamelodi Sundowns at the Cape Town Stadium on Sunday.

Matthew Rusike is available for selection after recovering from a hamstring injury and is expected to face the Brazilians in what is expected to be a mouth watering encounter.

Rusike returned to training before City’s Nedbank Cup last 16 victory over Orlando Pirates a fortnight ago, but was not included in the side for the clash against the Buccaneers.

The former Kaizer Chiefs man last featured in City’s 2-1 Absa Premiership defeat to Bidvest Wits on February 24 and is raring to go.

The Citizens will be looking for another big scalp in the cup, having knockout Wits and Orlando Pirates to get to the quarterfinals.

“Rusike is back after recevoring from his injury,” City chairman John Comitis says.

“Everyone is available for selection,” he adds.

City are expecting a big crowd to turn out for the match on Sunday.

“We expect a bumper show and 20 000 fans at the stadium on Sunday,” he says.

It’s been a good first season as a head coach in the PSL for Benni McCarthy and he will be looking to end it on a high by winning the Nedbank Cup.

The Citizens were, at some stage, league title contenders, but a difficult run in February saw them falling out of the race.

The Nedbank Cup gives them a chance at glory and it would certainly be even greater for the Citizens to win it in front of their fans at Cape Town Stadium, where the final will be played on May 19.
