HARARE City coach Bigboy Mawiwi will be fired if his team loses against Triangle United at Rufaro on Friday.
This is the ultimatum that has been delivered to the coach, who is backed by his chairman Leslie Gwindi, but is wanted out by the rest of the executive committee which is led by secretary general Tarisai Kwenda.
City have lost six games in a row and anchor the log standings, but Gwindi has chosen to keep faith with the coach who led his side to a third place finish last year and have been looking to challenge for the title this season.
Mawiwi was defiant after Saturday’s 2-1 loss away at FC Platinum, blaming poor officiating for the setback.
“You can see that we dominated the match although we were failing to score,” he said.
“With the way we were playing, my boys were convinced that we were going to get a goal until that dubious penalty.
“It sapped the energy out of my boys and we lost the drive after all the effort that had been invested. Everyone was frustrated and you cannot play football under such a situation.”
Triangle are also languishing in 14th place on the log after last weekend’s 5-1 home humiliation by ZPC Kariba and pressure has also been mounting on Biggie Zuze.
There are also reports that City could swoop on Dynamos coach Callisto Pasuwa, who is also at loggerheads with his own management after two losses in a row to Chapungu away and Buffaloes at home.
Dynamos travel to Shabanie Mine this Sunday seeking to pick up maximum points in Zvishavane and appease their fans, who threw missiles at the coach and board chairman Bernard Marriot after the 1-0 loss to Buffaloes last Sunday.
Caps United will also be looking to restore their season when they host Black Rhinos at the National Sports Stadium on Saturday while Chiredzi, fresh from an away win to Bantu Rovers, return home to face Chapungu.
The Bulawayo Derby this weekend will feature How Mine and Chicken Inn at Luveve while Buffaloes will host FC Platinum at Sakubva in Mutare.
Hwange, after losing 2-0 to How Mine last weekend, host Bantu Rovers at the Colliery also hoping to put their season back on track.
The big match on Sunday will feature joint log leaders Highlanders and ZPC Kariba at Gwanzura Stadium and will be televised live on SuperSport 9.Advertisement
