THE 2015 Castle Lager Premier Soccer League season ended abruptly on Tuesday when the season-ending Mbada Diamonds Cup was cancelled due to a congested calendar.
The $250, 000 Competition was supposed to feature the top four teams-Dynamos, ZPC Kariba, Caps United and FC Platinum but will now be played in early 2015.
Winners get $50 000, runners up $30 000 while the two losing semi-finalists will get $15 000 each. Each of the 12 teams that will not take part in the scaled down competition will receive $10,000.
Twine Phiri, the PSL chairman, attributed the cancellation to Region Fives Games that are starting in Bulawayo on Thursday and would be officially opened by President Mugabe. The games finish at the of December 2014.
He said: “We have to take into cognisance the importance of the Africa Union Region Five Games and give them the attention that they deserve since these are international games. We cannot, as a league, afford to have our attention elsewhere other than these important games and we want to fully support Team Zimbabwe.

“The cup will now be played next year and will be a season opener for the PSL. We know the inconvenience we have caused to the clubs as they had not broken camp in preparation for the cup matches, but we hope they understand that the Region Five Games take precedence”.
Highlanders were the defending champions of the competition after beating How Mine 3-0 in last year’s final, but will not take part next year as they finished in the fifth spot. Dynamos won the first two editions in 2011 and 2012 beating Motor Action and Monomotapa.Advertisement
