THE Mighty Warriors have set a training camp in Bulawayo preparing for next month’s African Women Cup of Nations as well as August’s Rio Olympic Games.
Shadreck Mlauzi’s ladies started training on Tuesday where fitness tests were being conducted on the players at the National University of Science and Technology.
All 30 players are now in camp.
The Mighty Warriors will travel to Tanzania on the weekend of 4-6 March for the first leg of the Women’s Nations Cup qualifying first round match.
“All the girls are here and right now we are testing their physical fitness. It is all going on well for us and by the time we go to Tanzania I am sure we will be very much ready to play,” Mlauzi said.
“It is crucial for us to establish how fit each player is. We require some huge amount of work to be invested by the players because we have to go to Tanzania with a strong team. That will also help us to have a strong team by the time we go for the Olympic Games in Brazil.”
Zifa are courting Botswana for an international friendly match before the team plays Tanzania.
The Olympic Games however remain the Mighty Warriors biggest assignment.Advertisement
