Search efforts are continuing in a bid to find missing 2-year-old Xielo Maruziva who fell into the River Soar last month. Hundreds of police officers have so far been involved in the rescue effort which has now entered its third week.

The toddler, who has been described as a “bundle of joy” by his family, fell into the River Soar near Aylestone on Sunday, February 18. He has not been seen since, with a major operation – one of the biggest UK police have ever faced – continuing in a bid to find him.

Police searches have spanned the river as well as near Leicester City’s King Power Stadium. Efforts have been aided by private firms, including Specialist Group International (SGI). However, all efforts so far have yet to find the missing boy.

The boy’s fall has been previously described as a “tragic set of circumstances” by leading officers involved in the search. Despite no results so far, police say they remain committed to finding Xielo.
