PRESIDENT Emmerson Mnangagwa will next week officially unveil First Chimurenga heroine Mbuya Nehanda’s statue.

The event is expected to be witnessed by some Zanu PF supporters and would be broadcast on national television.

The opposition MDC Alliance has criticised the Zanu PF led administration over misplaced priorities.

The statue is set to be an imposing monumental creation situated at the intersection of Samora Machel Avenue and Julius Nyerere in central Harare.

Nehanda is the iconic spirit medium who was executed 1898 by the settler region.

She has mounted fierce resistance against colonialism.

She became a symbol of resistance during the struggle that led to the independence of Zimbabwe in 1980 and the end of the white-minority ruled country of Rhodesia.
