Monomotapa 1-1 Tripple B
MONOMOTAPA and Tripple B remained entangled in the relegation fight on Thursday after they drew at Gwanzura.
Monomoata remain 14th on the table with 23 points, while Beitbridge side Tripple B are 15th after accumulating just 19 points in 22 matches.
Both teams knew they could not afford defeat to their direct relegation fight rivals, and a draw would have felt like a lesser of two evils.
It was a dream start for Biggie Zuze’s Monomotapa as Allan Tavarwisa scored his first goal for his new club after just five minutes.
But Tripple B, who finished the match with 10 men after a late red card for Phillip Makanje, were deservedly level on 28 minutes as Aleck Marime made his mark.
Makanje picked up his second yellow from referee Ruzive Ruzive in the 89th minute after trying to score with his hand.
The relegation fight doesn’t get any easier for both clubs. Up next for Monomotapa is a clash with league leaders Dynamos while Tripple B – who were kicked out of Alex Sports Club which they had been using as their training ground because of non-payment – face title-chasing FC Platinum.
Tripple B assistant coach Hillary Mukuruva admitted at the final whistle: “It’s not a good result. We wanted three points because of our position on the log.
“We are now eyeing the FC Platinum match at home and have to collect maximum points but we are worried that we picked a lot of injuries today.”
