ONE of the country’s supermarket chains has come up with a curious way of catching female shoplifters.
This reporter visited one of the shops in central Harare and was surprised to find a wooden log placed across the exit to the shop.
Asked what the contraption was for, security personnel indicated that it was a trap for female shoplifters.
So, how does it work?
“Well, female shop lifters often hide their loot between the legs,” one of the guards explained.
“So, when they get here and lift one leg to get over the log, the stolen items fall out.”
The supermarket chain is part owned by the family of former vice president Phelekezela Mphoko.
