AFTER staging a memorable home coming show in Harare April this year, Chimurenga guru Thomas Mapfumo has planned yet another mouth-watering show close to his homeland.
Mukanya as he is affectionately known by his legion of fans across the globe, will descend upon Johannesburg and Cape Town on 28 and 29 September respectively.
The shows, which have been dubbed unity tours, will be held at the Constitutional Hill in Johannesburg on 28 September and the Castle of Good Hope in Cape Town a day later.
A spokesperson of Up North Entertainment who are the promoters of the gig told NewZimbabwe.com in an interview that Mukanya will be supported by several artistes among them young sensation Gary Tight and Lindsay.
The unity tour came about as an idea to unify Zimbabweans at home and abroad through music.
“The atmosphere will be electric, signifying how senior musicians like Mapfumo‘s music has proven to be timeless. Only a legend can remain relevant after such a splendid career,” said the spokesperson.
The US based musical legend last played in South Africa in 2015 at the Bassline in Newtown.
