A 65-year-old Islamic pastor, Majidu Adini, was Friday taken to court on allegations of raping a grade three at a Mosque in Mufakose, Harare.
Adini appeared before magistrate Dennis Mangosi facing rape charges.
He was not asked to plead and was remanded in custody to October 22 for his routine remand.
The accused is the pastor to the complainant
According to prosecutors, sometime this year, the complainant went to the mosque with her grandmother who cannot be named to protect the identity of the minor.
The court heard on their arrival; her grandmother got into the mosque while she remained outside playing alone.
It is alleged, Adini who was sitting on a bench outside, called the complainant and instructed her to get into his bedroom where he ordered her to undress herself and the complainant complied.
He also undressed himself and told the complainant to sleep on the bed by her back before allegedly raping her once.
After the act the accused gave the complainant $2000 and the complainant then dressed properly and went home and she did not tell anyone.
It is alleged on October 5 and at around 7 pm the girl told her grandmother that her private part was in pain.
Her grandmother questioned her about what had transpired.
The state alleges that the complainant then revealed the matter.
The following day, they proceeded to ZRP Marimba where they filled a report, leading to Adini’s arrest.
