KAIZER Chiefs have been dealt a huge blow in their championship bid with Zimbabwe international striker Knowledge Musona ruled out for more than a month.
Musona suffered a broken shoulder almost two weeks ago and missed the 1-1 Soweto derby Absa Premiership league clash as a result, and according to a report from Sport Live Musona will in all likelihood only return to action early on in December.
“Musona’s injury is not a common shoulder injury,” Chiefs spokesman Vina Maphosa was quoted saying.
“His return to action will be determined by how he responds to treatment.”
Musona was injured while scoring Chiefs’ equaliser against Free State Stars in the Telkom Knockout quarter-finals on October 20, forcing the match to penalties.
It was his fourth goal in 11 matches since re-joining Kaizer Chiefs from the Bundesliga in Germany. Chiefs won the penalty-shoot-out, but Musona was substituted immediately after
scoring.
The Zimbabwean striker was loaned back to Kaizer Chiefs this season by TSG Hoffeinhem following the expiry of his loan deal to fellow Bundesliga outfit Augsburg.
However, his injury means he will miss a number of crucial matches for his club but
Baxter should ideally have enough cover while Musona is on the mend, with Bernard Parker, Kingston Nkhatha and Lehlohonolo Majoro all fit.
Chiefs also have Zimbabwean star Mathew Rusike and Kaizer Motaung Jr to call on as the two forwards have hardly featured so far thisAdvertisement
