PREMIERSHIP new-boys Mutare City Rovers suffered a major blow in their quest to avoid relegation after the Premier Soccer League (PSL) docked them three points for fielding an ineligible play Kudakwashe Gurure.
Gurure had accumulated three yellow cards prior to the game against FC Platinum Mandava recently but the Mutare side went on to field him in contravention of Order 33.4 of the PSL Rules and Regulations.
Order 33.4 of the PSL Rules and Regulations states that: “… where a player has accumulated three yellow cards he shall automatically be suspended for one official match…such suspension should be applicable on the next official match”.
City were also fined $1,250 for the use of Gurure which must be paid before September 10.
The match ended 1-1 and FC Platinum’s point they got from the drawn match will remain.
Mutare City Rovers will remain 14th on the log with 17 points with ten round of matches remaining.
On Saturday they travel to Harare to face Caps United at the giant National Sports Stadium.
