Mutare City ready for PSL action

MUTARE City coach Kennedy Kachara feels they will be formidable opponents in their maiden PSL season after losing 1-0 to Caps United in Sunday’s friendly match at Gwanzura Stadium.
City were confirmed as PSL new boys last month following a protracted boardroom battle against rivals Masvingo United over the use of ineligible players.
The club exhibited their resilience against Caps United on Sunday in a match played for two hours with each half lasing for an hour.
It was a tough match for both sides who wanted to test their players’ resilience.
After making Caps United labour to a 1-0 victory courtesy of Dominic Chungwa’s goal, Kachara feels his side will not be pushovers this season.
“I think my boys showed that we can compete against any team in the PSL. We might have most to a big team like Caps United but anyone can see that it was not easy for them to beat us,” Kachara said.
“If we manage to make Caps sweat, it shows we can do well against Dynamos or Highlanders. I am happy my players showed character. We played abnormal minutes and I am also happy with the physical conditions of my boys. We are getting to the level we want.
“You should also consider that we adjusted our minds for PSL football a bit late because of that case but we are almost there.”
Mutare City have familiar faces in former Dynamos goalkeeper Philip Nhete, Caleb Masocha and Smart Muchabaiwa both formerly with Shabanie Mine.
They also have ex-Triangle captain Chasten Ngondonga and Wonder Sithole.Advertisement
