DYNAMOS have been dealt a big blow in their quest to retain the Castle Lager Premier Soccer League after striker Rodreck Mutuma was suspended for the last match against How Mine at National Sports Stadium on Sunday.
Mutuma accrued three yellow cards, the last one which came in the 2-1 loss to ZPC Kariba two weeks ago and the other two against FC Platinum, where he remonstrated against the referee and Caps United, where he removed his shirt after scoring.
Dynamos are second on the standings with 54 points, two off leaders ZPC Kariba and need to convincingly win Sunday’s match and hope that the leaders lose to Caps United on the same day.
Leaders ZPC have lost key midfielder Tsepo Ranthokoane for the title decider against Caps United and coach Saul Chaminuka will need to make adjustments for the match that has been moved to Gwanzura Stadium.
The former Under 20 international has been a key player for the electricity men with veterans Limited Chikafa, Tawanda Nyamandwe, Artwell Nyamiwa, Dennis Dauda, Ephraim Mwinga and Pride Tafirenyika. Chikafa has scored nine goals this season.
Hwange is the most affected as they have David Boriwondo, Gerald Ndlovu and Rodwell Chinyengetere suspended for the match against troubled Buffaloes.
The coalminers are safe from relegation, but Buffaloes, on 36 points, are still in danger.
Elsewhere, FC Platinum’s Zambian international Aaron Katebe, who missed the last
two matches against Caps United and Harare City, is also out after accruing three yellow cards.
Katebe is in Zambia for his country’s Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against Cape Verde which was due to be played on Wednesday night at the Levy Mwanawasa Stadium in Ndola.
Chicken Inn, who have a date against relegation threatened Harare City will be without Thabani Goredema while Chapungu have Maxwell Mavuto out for their away tie against Highlanders in Bulawayo.
