HARARE giants Caps United have announced the capture of Dynamos hit-man Rodreck Mutuma who was unveiled in the capital Monday in a surprise move seen as the biggest signing in the PSL this season.
Mutuma joins on a two year contract with a further one year option.
The former Dynamos striker – a previous winner of the Golden Boot winner in 2012 had been negotiating for a contract extension with the champions following the expiry of his one-year deal with them on December 31.
However, disagreements stalled his bit to extend contract with Dynamos and in a surprise development he was unveiled as Caps United’s new signing on Monday.
Caps United chief executive Joe Makuvire was naturally excited to have him on their books.
“We have been following progress on the talks between (Mutuma) and Dynamos and we pounced once the opportunity presented itself,” said Makuvire.
“We paid a price for him. He didn’t come cheap. He arrives on a two-year deal with a further one year option for renewal.
“We have been rebuilding and these are the final pieces of our rebuilding exercise and you should expect two more big signings in the next week. We still have to sign a midfielder and an attacking midfielder.
“We want to make Caps United a super competitive side and kill the notion we are a dead institution. We want to show that we are still alive and kicking.”
The club’s coach Mark Harrison described Mutuma as the biggest signing of the league this season.
“I know him very well. He is, perhaps, the biggest signing in the PSL this season. We will build the squad around him,” said Harrison.
Harrison finally arrived in the country at the weekend after he was granted a work permit having missed three weeks of the club’s pre-season training.
He took charge of his first training session at the club’s training ground in the capital on Monday.Advertisement
