THE Zimbabwe Electoral Commission (ZEC) says it has not received any official complaints from parties and candidates who contested the country’s election on Monday as it also announced official results will start trickling in around 3pm this Tuesday.
Zimbabwe’s much-criticised election authority declared that there had been no rigging of the country’s election, after the opposition repeatedly alleged that the vote process was flawed.
“We are absolutely confident there was no rigging… we at the Zimbabwean Election Commission will not steal (the people’s) choice of leaders, we will not subvert their will,” ZEC chair Priscilla Chiguma said a day after the vote.
ZEC has been accused of involvement in previous flawed votes in Zimbabwe.
Former President Robert Mugabe said at a media briefing at his private residence on Sunday that the controversial electoral authority was clean.
