WASHINGTON Pakamisa is delighted to grab his first league goal of the season which effectively ended Highlanders’ eleven-match unbeaten run at the National Sports Stadium on Sunday.
Crucially that goal ensured Dynamos maintained their dominance over the old enemy who have not defeated them since 2006, the year they last won the championship.
Pakamisa, has been failing to impose himself – his touch, time and again letting him down.
He had endured a frustrating first half of the season but coach Kalisto Pasuwa stuck with him and it eventually paid dividends on Sunday as Dynamos shot to third place on the league table.
The Harare side have the same number of points as leaders Hwange and second placed How Mine (22) following Pakamisa’s solitary first half strike that beat Highlanders goalkeeper Njabulo Nyoni in the 34th minute.
Dynamos strikers had been struggling in front of goal with only Anesu Gondo and Patrick Khumbula having found the target which meant just three goals between them while the rest were scored by non-strikers.
Said Pakamisa on his match winning goal: “It was a very special goal for me and the team. It was my first goal in the league.
“I have not been scoring but have been working hard. The goal has earned us a place up there with some of the teams at the top and I hope to continue scoring like that.
“It has also ensured we preserved our unbeaten record against Highlanders in the league. I have to keep working hard to get more goals going forward.”Advertisement
