Pakamisa turns his guns on United

DYNAMOS can creep up on the leaders Highlanders and FC Platinum on Sunday if they can continue their dominance over Harare rivals CAPS United at the National Sports Stadium.
Having already drawn six matches in nine games, Dynamos have won their last two and will have their unbeaten run this season to preserve when they meet the old enemy.
In Dynamos, United face a familiar foe – the free-scoring Washington Pakamisa, who was deemed excess baggage during the off-season before joining their bitter rivals.
Pakamisa has rescued Dynamos time and time again this season, and he will be seeking to add to his six goals.
United, the home side, have raised the cheapest ticket price to $5 from $3 for the match which will be screened live by SuperSport 9 at 2PM Zimbabwe time.
The two teams go into the match tied for fifth on the table – just five points adrift of the joint leaders who are setting the pace with 20 points from nine matches.
United’s assistant coach Brenna Msika insists his club will not pay special attention to Pakamisa.
“We know him, but he is really not an issue. Paying attention to him might disturb our plans,” Msiska said on Friday.
To beat Dynamos, CAPS United must rewrite history – they haven’t won this derby in four years.
But Msiska maintains the pressure is on Dynamos, who are the defending league champions.
“They (Dynamos) are going into the match under pressure because they are the defending champions and have always beaten us. So we are comfortable with being the underdogs,” the former Warriors goalkeepers coach said.
For Dynamos, veteran striker Murape Murape returns just at the right time after serving a one match suspension for accumulating three yellow cards.
Stephen Alimenda and Patrick Kumbula are also in contention for places in the team which also has the returning Farai Mupasiri and aggressive Tawanda Muparati.
While the two will be battling it out at the NSS, no doubt, they will be keeping tabs on events at Barbourfields Stadium where leaders Highlanders – who boast a better goal difference over FC Platinum – are at home to How Mine.
Highlanders drew 0-0 with Platinum last weekend, and the two teams would be happy they got over that match without ceding ground.Advertisement

Platinum travel to Monomotapa at Rufaro on Saturday. Monomotapa boast no less than six players and officials who featured for Highlanders in recent years – coach Philani Mabhena and players Herbert Dick, Gilbert Banda, Arnold Ndiweni, Khumbulani Banda, Thabani Moyo and Nqobile Mpala.
Action begins on Friday when Harare City welcome Triangle to Rufaro with top spot beckoning if they manage to score four goals and better Highlanders’ total.
