Pasuwa: Locally based players for Zambia friendly

WARRIORS coach Callisto Pasuwa will only be able to field local-based players in Saturday’s international friendly match against Zambia at the National Sports Stadium.
Most foreign-based players would be involved in league matches for their respective clubs on Saturday and Sunday as the international week only opens on the following day.
Pasuwa will also be without FC Platinum and Ngezi Platinum players who are set to play in the Chibuku Super Cup on Saturday.
But the following weekend will see Pasuwa enjoying a full contingent of his squad, for another international friendly match against Tanzania at the same venue.
However, the Zambia and Tanzania matches have provided a lifeline for the Warriors in their 2017 Afcon preparations.
Worries of poor preparations had begun to mount after Zimbabwe missed last month’s Fifa international week.
The Zambia friendly was concluded late last week with Zifa acting secretary general Joseph Mamutse writing a letter of confirmation to the Football Association of Zambia boss Andrew Kamanga.
“Following your discussion with our president Dr Chiyangwa, the Zimbabwe Football Association do hereby confirm an international friendly match.
“The association will provide your team with full board accommodation, local transport and all local requirements while you cover air tickets,” wrote Mamutse.
Zimbabwe are also expected to play Egypt just before the Afcon tournament to be staged in Gabon.Advertisement
