Pasuwa named Zimbabwe Under-23 coach

ZIFA has announced the appointment of Dynamos coach Callisto Pasuwa as national Under-23 coach.
Pasuwa takes over from Peter Ndlovu who left the post to take up a job in South Africa as Mamelodi Sundowns coach.
His appointment was at the recommendations of the Zifa High Performance Technical Committee which monitors all national teams.
Pasuwa is tasked with leading the Under-23s to the Olympic Games that will be hosted by Rio De Janeiro, Brazil in 2016.
“Callisto Pasuwa, formerly assistant to Ian Gorowa takes over as the national Under-23 head coach following the departure of former warriors skipper Peter Ndlovu who joined Mamelodi Sundowns of South Africa as team manager.
Pasuwa is the current three time championship winning Dynamos head coach,” said Zifa in a statement.
Jairos Tapera has been retained as the Under-23 coach while unheralded Tafadzwa Mashiri will take over the Under-17s from Lloyd Chigova.
“Tafadzwa Mashiri, who formerly coached Gutu High School in 2012 is the newly appointed head coach for the Under17 national team.
“Former Kiglon head coach Pearson Matipedza has been appointed as the new national Under-15 head coach. James Mohala from the NAPH structures will head the Under-13 national team,” Zifa announced.
There were also changes in the women’s national teams’ set-ups.
Former Mighty Warriors player Sithethelelwe Sibanda will take charge of both the Under-20 and 23s while the Under-17s will be under little-known of Evlyn Rimai. Anne Konje is the new Under 15 head coach.
No appointments were made for the vacant seniors national teams following the sacking of Gorowa and Rosemary Mugadza.Advertisement
