PREMIERSHIP giants, Dynamos on Saturday dropped two valuable points in a 1-all draw away to inconsistent ZPC Kariba but remained perched precariously on the summit of the Castle Lager Premier Soccer League log table with a slender one-point advantage.
ZPC Kariba were first to hit the back of the net through Never Tigere after 26 minutes of play but it took Dynamos’s problem child Denver Mukamba just eight minutes to restore parity in the 34th minute.
There were no-more goals to separate the two teams in a match that evidently dented Dynamos’ 2017 title hopes.
“Such is football. We tried very much to get three points but we couldn’t. The good thing is we managed to recover but I must say it’s not easy to play against a Sunday Chidzambwa-coached side,” Dynamos coach Lloyd Mutasa said in his post-match interview.
On the other hand, Chidzambwa praised his charges for rising to the occasion in a match they showed greater determination to win.
Meanwhile, Ngezi Platinum were the happiest of the teams which were involved in Round 28 of the premiership marathon on Saturday, emerging 1-0 victors over visiting Bulawayo City to stay a point behind the log leaders.
The Tonderai Ndiraya coached outfit got the priceless goal through nomadic star Qadr Amini in the 69th minute.
The win by the surprise title aspirants takes them to 56 points, one behind Dynamos who have amassed 57 points from 28 matches.
Fellow title contenders FC Platinum and Chicken Inn remain a close third and fourth respectively.
FC Platinum, with 53 points from 27 matches, have an unpredictable date Sunday with wounded giants Highlanders who now play for pride as they have since fallen out of the chase.
Chicken Inn, on their part, have amassed 52 points from 28 matches.
Harare City Saturday proved bad hosts for premiership whipping boys Bantu Rovers whom they clobbered by a massive 5 goals to nil to add to the Bulawayo side’s disastrous 2017 campaign.
Across the city, there was an abundance of goals when Prophet Walter Magaya’s Yadah FC played to a 3 all draw with Black Rhinos while Bulawayo side How Mine allowed visiting coal miners Hwange FC to go back home with three points after beating them by a goal to nil.
Elsewhere, Air Force side Chapungu beat Tsholotsho by 2 goals to nil to give them more headaches in their quest to survive the chop at the end of the season.Advertisement
Goals by Allen Tavarwisa in the 43 minute and Blessing Sahondo soon after the breather in the 47th minutes saw Tsholotsho go down.
