FC Platinum striker Donald Ngoma and midfielder Tatenda Dzumbunu limped off with injuries on Saturday when they drew 1-1 against Highlanders at Barbourfields in their final Confederation Cup preparatory match.
Ngoma scored for Platinum in the 20th minute before Bosso’s roving left back Bruce Kangwa equalised 18 minutes from time.
Platinum are due to leave Zimbabwe on Friday for Kenya where they will play Sofapaka in the first leg, preliminary round at the Nyayo Stadium on Sunday.
Team assistant coach Patrick Mandizha said the duo will be assessed by the team doctors this week and is confident they will make the trip to Kenya.
“We had to pull them out as a pre-caution and the team doctors will have another assessment on Monday.
“I am happy with the way the team played especially coming from the off-season and most were out of shape. They have progressed well in terms of physical fitness,” he said.
Mandizha said he was impressed by new signing Wellington Kamudyariwa, who came in from relegated Premiership side Shabanie Mine.  “Welly played well, he is adjusting to our system and I am sure he will be a good addition.”
This week Platinum will be joined by head coach Norman Mapeza who finished his Caf A coaching badges in Harare on Sunday for the final preparations.
Platinum have played three games including against Chapungu and Shabanie Mine following the cancellation of an international friendly match against Power Dynamos of Zambia.
Speaking on the Sofapaka match, Mandizha said they will try to avoid conceding an away goal.
“We are taking this game cautiously so that we don’t concede a goal but at the same time we will be looking for a positive result so that when we come back home, it will work to our advantage,” he said.Advertisement
