FC PLATINUM will kick off the defence of their Chibuku Super Cup on Saturday with a home tie against struggling Dongo Sawmill.
Platinum won the inaugural edition last year when they beat Harare City 4-2 on penalties after the match had ended 1-1 after extra time at Mandava.
And they could not have wished for a better start than at home as they, together with the top eight teams as at Week 15, were seeded in the draw conducted on Tuesday.
Norman Mapeza’s boys have slowly crept up the Premier Soccer League table to fifth place with 29 points, five off leaders Chicken Inn.
They might have lost top striker Donald Ngoma to Young Africans of Tanzania, but Brian Muzondiwa has easily stepped into his place.
They have also added gritty Young Warriors midfielder Gerald Takwara and Farai Masusunye.
Friday: Harare City vs Buffaloes (Rufaro)
Saturday: FC Platinum v Dongo (Mandava), Chapungu v Flame Lily (Ascot), Chicken Inn v Hwange (Luveve)
Sunday: Highlanders v How Mine (BF), Dynamos v Whawha (Rufaro), Caps United v ZPC Kariba (NSS), Triangle v Tsholotsho (Gibbo)
