Pressure for Dembare coach as Harare ginats lose to Highlanders

PRESSURE continues to grow for Dynamos interim coach Lloyd Mutasa as he has to win his two remaining matches against Chapungu and Ngezi Platinum to save his job after he became the first coach to lose to Highlanders in a league match in 10 years.
Dynamos were edged 2-0 by their eternal rivals at Rufaro on Saturday-Mutasa’s second defeat in charge since he replaced sacked Portuguese coach Jorge Paulo Silva. His other defeat came against FC Platinum who edged them 1-0 also at home.
Mutasa was given the job on an interim basis as the management hunt for a substantive coach. After slumping to his second defeat in charge having won just once against Tsholotsho (1-0), in his three matches, the remaining two matches are a must win.
Although club president Keni Mubaiwa could not be drawn into revealing the point target for the coach, it is understood nine points would save Mutasa his job.
After the defeat to Highlanders the Harare giants now embark on a difficult trip to Chapungu next before hosting newly promoted side Ngezi Platinum at Rufaro.
But Mubaiwa insisted their search for a coach was stiĺl on. “These games against teams like Highlanders are the ones a coach is judged on. Our search for a coach continues but Mutasa still has two matches to prove himself,” said Mubaiwa.
“What we have done is we have appointed Lloyd Mutasa as coach on interim basis while we are looking for a substantive coach. Right now I am sure there should be people applying for the job and once we get the coach we want we will make an announcement. We have not really set a points target for Lloyd because we can get a coach anytime. But it doesn’t mean that we are not considering him (Lloyd). If he proves himself, he will get the job,” Mubaiwa said after Mutasa was hired.
Overall, Dynamos have endured a difficult start to the season in which they have won just two in eight matches of the campaign so far. Crucially, they have scored just three goals and are yet to score at home.Advertisement
