DYNAMOS midfielder Steven Alimenda has been fined $2000 and banned, with immediate effect, for three Castle Lager Premier Soccer League matches after assaulting and insulting a female Tsholotsho Football medic on May 25 at Rufaro.
The midfielder has to pay the fine by August 31 and, unless he appeals against the outcome of the hearing, he will miss Sunday’s match against Hwange at the Colliery.
Alimenda, who has seen duty at Lancashire Steel, Highlanders and Caps United, allegedly assaulted Tsholotsho medic Sibusisiwe Mthunzi in the 88th minute of the match that ended 0-0 at Rufaro as she was on her way to attending to an injured player.
The Premier Soccer League Disciplinary Committee also accused referee Thomas Massa of ignoring the incident despite being alerted to it and seeking to protect the player after he was seen talking to Alimenda after the match.
Photo evidence of that chit chat was also produced during the two-day hearing conducted by PSL DC chairman Vusi Vuma, former referee Brighton Mudzamiri and Doreen Gapare.
