CHICKEN Inn assistant goalkeepers’ coach Julius Ndlovu has been charged for violence after he allegedly assaulted Dongo Sawmill medic Wurayayi Chiparange on Saturday at Luveve Stadium while the Rusape side have also been charged for causing the abandonment of the match.
Both Ndlovu and Dongo will appear before Premier Soccer League (PSL) Disciplinary Committee at a date to be announced, PSL chief executive Kennedy Ndebele confirmed on Monday.
The alleged assault resulted in the match being abandoned on the hour mark as Dongo protested against the incident, claiming they could not proceed in the absence of their medic.
Chicken Inn were leading 1-0, courtesy of a Tafadzwa Kutinyu first half goal, scored in the 43rd minute.
Ndlovu is said to have punched Chiparange whom he accused of putting juju on Chicken Inn’s goal area manned by goalkeeper Elvis Chipezeze.
If Ndlovu is found guilty by PSL on the league’s standing orders, he would likely be fined.
However, it’s highly unlikely that his side would be docked three points as his actions did not cause the abandonment of the match.
Instead, Dongo’s walking out caused the calling off of the match, according to match commissioner Mike Phiri’s report.
