LAST season’s top four PSL finishers, Dynamos, ZPC Kariba, Caps United and FC Platinum, have been picked to play in this year’s Uhuru Cup tournament.
Zimbabwe Football Association (ZIFA) spokesperson Xolisani Gwesela said the top four teams from last year would face each other in the Independence celebrations this season.
Defending champions FC Platinum who finished fourth will take on third placed Harare giants Caps United at Mandava while Dynamos will lock horns with second placed ZPC Kariba at Rufaro.
The semi-finals will be played on April 15 with the final set for the National Sports Stadium in Harare on 18 April.
“The Zimbabwe Football Association advises the football family that this year’s Independence Cup will include four teams namely FC Platinum, ZPC Kariba, Dynamos and Caps United.
“The Semi-finals for the cup to commemorate the country’s 35th independence celebrations will be played on April 15.
“FC Platinum will host Caps United while Dynamos will face ZPC Kariba for a place in the final to be played on 18 April at the national sports stadium,” Gwesela said.
Winners of the semi-final clashes will battle for the Uhuru Cup.
FC Platinum are the reigning Uhuru Cup champions following their penalty shootout victory in last year’s edition over Dynamos.Advertisement
