PREMIER Soccer League (PSL) chief executive, Kenny Ndebele, has announced April 2 as the day the 2016 Castle Lager Premier Soccer League will kick off.
The league management delayed the start of the season as they took into consideration that there were international matches involving clubs and the Warriors.
However, the PSL boss said on Thursday: “We have set the 2nd of April as the start of the season.
“We have recieved the ZIFA calendar and we factored in all the international matches.”
He said they also took into consideration that there were other sanctioned pre-season cup tournaments and four international matches involving the country’s representatives in the CAF Champions League and Confederation Cup, Chicken Inn and Harare City respectively as well as the Warriors.
Chicken Inn and Harare City flew out to South Africa and Madagascar respectively this week for the return legs of their journey in the African safari.
Chicken Inn won 1-0 in Bulawayo while Harare City edged AS Adema 3-2 in the first leg.
The knock out rounds of the Bob 92 Cup, the ZNA Army Charities Shield and the Independence Cup are expected to start before the season kicks off.
Chicken Inn are the defending champions after winning their maiden championship last term at the expense of traditional giants Dynamos, Highlanders and Caps United.Advertisement
