Qualification is in our hands – says Katsande

WARRIORS captain Willard Katsande says Zimbabwe’s quest to qualify for the 2017 Afcon finals is in their hands.
The Warriors opened a three-point gap at the summit of Group L on Monday after crushing Swaziland 4-0 at the National Sports Stadium in what was their biggest win in over a decade.
Guinea has now emerged as the Warriors biggest threat in this Group after leaping from bottom to second-place on Tuesday when they beat Malawi 2-1 away to come three points behind Zimbabwe.
But Katsande believes they are in charge of their destiny in the bid to book a ticket to Gabon 2017.
“Beating Swaziland has placed us on good standing to qualify for Afcon. This is all what we needed and we managed to win by a wide margin,” Katsande said.
“Getting into the Swaziland match we did not want to end up in a situation where we will be much concerned about the Guinea-Malawi result. We are leading the race and it is for us to lose.
“We are not resting however because there are still two games to go. We just have to ensure maximum points in our last two games.”
Zimbabwe are bidding for a third appearance at Afcon finals after taking part at the 2004 and 2006 editions.Advertisement
