Dynamos 1-0 FC Platinum
OSCAR Machapa scored in the last minute of added time as Dynamos finally came right with their first win in four matches against FC Platinum in a Castle Premiership match at Rufaro on Sunday.
Having been thumped 3-0 at home by Chicken Inn and lost 1-0 to Whahwa in midweek, coach David Mandigora was in a spot of bother and seriously needed a win.
With 90 minutes up and four minutes of added time almost coming to an end, Platinum substitute Nigel Papias, under no pressure at all, conceded a corner.
Ocean Mushure then curled in the ball that goalkeeper Francis Tizayi failed to cut and Machapa was on hand to bundle it over Thabani Kamusoko’s head and into the nets.
That sparked celebrations on the Dynamos bench as Mandigora was clearly a relieved man.
“It’s a great relief for me and the players after the last three matches went bad for us. It’s good to get a win. We had a few chances, but one clear one when Carlos Rusere headed wide and I think we should have won it there, but at least we did score and we got the three points,” Mandigora said after the match.
FC Platinum coach Norman Mapeza admitted his players had lost concentration at the last minute.
“Some of these players are young and are prone to mistakes. We lacked concentration at the last moment and we paid for it,” he said.
He then spoke about his future at the club:  “I’m not worried at all. If results don’t come and it means I have to go, I will go.”
There was not much action in terms on chances on either side with both teams rather cautious in their approach until the final minute.
Dynamos lost two players Simba Nhivi and Obey Mwerahari to knee injuries while Platinum’s Donald Ngoma limped off after an hour due to an injury.
The win sees Dynamos maintain third spot with 17 points, three less than new leaders Triangle and Chicken Inn. Dynamos will be hoping for better fortunes in their next away match as they travel to Barbourfields to face How Mine while Platinum will be at home to Triangle.
