Rude awakening for Mighty Warriors

MIGHTY Warriors coach Shadreck Mlauzi feels they still have a lot of work to do after succumbing 3-0 to South Africa in an international friendly match at the National Sports Stadium on Thursday.
It was a rude awakening for Zimbabwe, ahead of the Africa Women Nations Cup which kicks off in Cameroon next week.
Zimbabwe are in the same group with South Africa, whom they played again a few months back.
Egypt and hosts Cameroon complete Zimbabwe’s group.
“We tried 4-4-2-1 from our usual 4-3-2-1 but it did not work. That shows we have to work hard on a lot of aspects,” Mlauzi said.
“But time is not on our side and we have to go to Cameroon with whatever we have mastered right now. We still have a few days in camp and we will use them to sharpen ourselves. The only advantage we have is that we were together at the Olympic so the girls know our system.”
There has been an outcry in the Mighty Warriors camp over poor preparations due to Zifa’s financial predicament.Advertisement
