SCOTTLAND FC has progressed to the next round of the CAF Champions League after eliminating Eswatini side Nsingizini Hotspurs following a goalless draw at Somhlolo National Stadium Saturday afternoon.
The Zimbabwean champions went into the second leg holding a slim 1-0 advantage from the first leg played at the National Sports Stadium in Harare last week.
Norman Mapeza’s side defended their advantage in Eswatini, keeping Nsingizini at bay to secure a 1-0 aggregate victory and book their place in the next round of the continental competition.
The result also sees Scottland FC become the first Zimbabwean club since the lifting of the FIFA suspension to progress beyond the preliminary round of the CAF Champions League.
Ngezi Platinum were eliminated by AS Maniema Union on penalties in 2024 after two goalless draws, while Simba Bhora suffered a similar fate against Nsingizini in 2025 after the two sides exchanged 1-0 victories.
Speaking after the match Scottland FC coach Mapeza applauded his boys for the discipline in defence.
“It was a good game of football and first half we were the better side, but they also came at us second half.
“Our defending did well to make sure we do not concede which was key.
“The good thing is we are through to the next round, and we again prepare for the match as we go,” said Mapeza.
Scottland FC will now turn their attention to the next round, where they will face Atletico Petroleos de Luanda of Angola.
If Mabviravira win against the Angolan side they will book a place to the group stages of the tournament where they will get US$700,000.
