ZIFA president Cuthbert Dube has taken a dig at his deputy Ndumiso Gumede for the chaos that characterised refereeing in the past season.
Gumede heads the referees committee and is in charge of assigning match officials as well as ensuring the quality of officiating.
Several unpleasant incidents occurred during the season as refereeing took centre stage resulting in matches being decided by whistle-men and their assistants.
Dube castigated the referees committee during a fundraising dinner to raise money for Zifa’s Golden Jubilee celebrations.
“Let me not talk much of the referees committee. But this is an area where so much needs to be done. Many things happened there tarnished the image of our game. Gumede you need to correct things,” Dube said.

Referee of the day Norman Matemera was then suspended for being the centre man the rest of season.
The two sides’ return leg saw referee Thabani Bamala suspended for failing to write his post-match report of an ill-tempered match that yielded two red cards.
