STRUGGLING CHICKEN Inn face off champions Dynamos in a Castle Lager Premiership tie at Gwanzura in a midweek match on Wednesday hoping to stop a poor run which has seen them slipping to 10th position on the league table
Joey Antipas watched his charges suffering a 1-0 defeat to Caps United at the National Sports Stadium on Sunday – their seventh defeat of the season and their third successive defeat which has piled pressure on the coach.
However, they will be without midfielder Danny Phiri who is still nursing a knee injury that side-lined him from the match against Caps United.
Joey Antipas’ men will also be without Thabani Goredema who is suspended after picking up three yellow cards in matches against Highlanders, Dynamos and Caps United.
The last meeting between the two teams ended goalless yet Antipas says Dynamos are the favourites.
But Antipas refuses to be flattered by that performance insisting Dynamos remain the favourites.
“They are the champions so they are favourites,” said Antipas.
“It will always be difficult to play Dynamos more so without two of our best players. But we are going there with a positive mind.
“We have been playing well but results have not been coming so we hope for the best.”
Dynamos team manager Richard Chihoro however, believes Chicken Inn poses a major threat.
“We are taking each game as it comes but they are coming from a defeat and they wouldn’t to lose again so it will be a tough match. Remember we drew at Barbourfields,” said Chihoro.
After failing to score in their last game against Black Rhinos, Dynamos remained on third position in the league, just a point behind leaders Highlanders.
The Harare giants’ coach Callisto Pasuwa blamed the drop of two points to the state of Rimuka Stadium pitch which he says was not conducive for s spreading the ball.
“The pitch was not good for the boys to play their normal football,” he said.
“It was difficult for the ball to move well and in the end we ended up unnecessarily losing possession.
“We have to put that behind us and focus on our next match at home. We have to recover and collect maximum points.”
