THREE Gokwe men allegedly murdered a woman after accusing her of having an illicit love affair.
Police have since arrested one of the suspects, George Ndebele, 29, who has appeared before Gokwe Regional Magistrate Musaiona Shortgame and remanded him in custody while the other two men are on the run.
Representing the State, Liberty Chimwaradze, told the court Monday that the now deceased, Prisca Moyo, was severely assaulted by the three men leading to her death.
Chimwaradze said on 28 February, Ndebele was part of a three men gang that assaulted Moyo leading to her death on charges that she was having an illicit affair.
“The accused person and his accomplices who are still at large connived and assaulted Prisca Moyo for having an affair with another man at the same time being in love with one of the accused person’s accomplices whose name is yet to be established,” Chimwaradze told the court.
The court further heard that: “Armed with an empty beer bottle and some unknown weapons, the accused person struck the now deceased Prisca Moyo on the head with a bottle resulting in her falling on the ground.
“The accused person and his accomplices took turns to assault the now deceased before strangling her to death.”
The body of the deceased was taken to United Bulawayo Hospital for a post-mortem and the cause of her death was recorded to be due to head injuries and strangulation.
Shortgame remanded Ndebele in custody to 23 March.
